Geneva Switzerland – Stunning City
I only had one day scheduled to explore Geneva which unfortunately really did not do it justice considering its magnitude in history and of so many interesting things to see and do. Still, I’m so delighted to have an up-close and personal experience to visit this wonderful city.
I enjoyed the moment being in a country whose name itself is synonymous to high quality, an indelible excellent reputation earned especially in the field of Horology, particularly in watchmaking. For hours, I content myself window shopping admiring at the beautiful pieces of luxury of high-end watches such as Vacheron Constantin whose motto is “Do better if possible and that is always possible”. Some of the other Swiss luxury watch brands that mesmerize me are Patek Philippe, Omega, Franck Muller, Piaget and my personal favorite Jaeger-LeCoultre, to name a few.
“Like shopping for a Swiss watch. Hard to make a mistake”, as Swiss Airlines advertisement at Zurich Airport says.
I joined the planned cruise on the Lake Geneva and from the boat it gave a lovely view of the famous Mont Blanc, as well as the icon of the city the Jet d’Eau which literally means “water jet”. It is the huge fountain on the Geneva lake and is one of the tallest fountains in the world. Jet d’Eau was originally built in 1886 to control and release the excess pressure of a hydraulic plant at La Coulouvreniere.
Over the course of time Jet d’Eau became a remarkable symbol of the City.
I would love to visit this city again someday.
