A Poem For My Birthday

It is my fifth attempt at writing a poem. This one is dedicated to myself – on my birthday.

I want to share it here with you my dear Readers. I hope you will like it.

My Birthday

In the beginning, it was an evening on a Saturday,

On the twentieth of July is my special natal day.

Born in a world endowed with a unique package.

Two score plus less than a decade is now my age.

How swiftly the time flies. Oh my, oh my.

Reminiscing the younger days gone by.

Twas yesteryears when I was a tiny suckling.

Suddenly, now all I see is my face wrinkling.

For whatever it is, I am and will always be thankful.

For the love and life that surrounds me so bountiful.

In spite of the angst encountered that seems dejecting.

That’s just part of life and living which gives its meaning.

For the past years of working, giving my heart and soul.

Hoping the majority were not a waste and vainly rigmarole.

Thanking the Almighty for blessings that come my way.

Wishing truly to be His faithful steward –

this in Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen.
