Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice

The book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is considered as the most endearing love story ever written in the English language.

I have  seen the BBC TV Series which stars Colin Firth as Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy. This version, according to some critics is the most faithful adaptation of the book (so far).

Here is my take on Pride and Prejudice after re – reading the book and after watching the movie 2005 version of the same title.

“She is tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me…”!

Seriously? Well, “what are men to rocks and mountains?”

Imagining a blissful moment one afternoon tête-à–tête

With Jane Austen in Stevenson, Hampshire near her pianoforte.

Wowed by the young lass’ brilliance and wit

Especially with her second book Pride and Prejudice.

Since 1813 this book has engrossed many hopeless romantics.

Most of whom have been stunned by the proud Mr. Darcy’s eventual decision.

To finally declare to Elizabeth his love and wholehearted affection.

Many a reader must have asked themselves the same question.

Oh, my dear Elizabeth Bennet what do you reckon?

When listening to Mr. Darcy’s confession.

“In vain have I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed.

You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”

Truth be told, this line is an all-time winner!
