My admiration for “Jane Eyre” a novel by Charlotte Brontë
Jane Eyre, a novel written by Charlotte Brontë. I must confess I utterly fell in love not only with the leading character but all the more with the author herself. Charlotte has written a novel that would become one of the most famous romance novels of all time.
Although I have seen movie adaptations of Jane Eyre, I did not fully realize then how beautifully the novel was composed until I read it in its entirety with the convenience of my prized Kindle. I do possess copies of the books one of which I personally purchased at a gift shop in their former home in the village of Haworth, West Yorkshire, England. The Bronte House is now turned into a Museum holding the family’s treasured memorabilia.
All the time I was reading Jane Eyre I felt that I was totally immersed within its pages. I admire the style of writing and the story itself is emotionally satisfying to a hard-headed, independent woman like myself. In general, it depicts a character that is not a stoic type, nor of a vexing incurable optimist. But within its story, it manifests Christian values.
Indeed, Jane Eyre belongs to a genre that highlights a “happy ending” at least to the main characters. In the end, it portrays an overwhelming triumph that many hopeless romantic readers dreamt of and wished for.
