The Church of the Holy Sepulchre

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the centre of Christianity and the most sacred site of Christendom, is a church within the Christian Quarter of Old City, Jerusalem. It is also called the Church of the Resurrection but was formerly known by its original Greek name: the Church of the Anastasis. The church contains the two holiest sites in Christendom: the site where Jesus of Nazareth was crucified known as Calvary in Latin and Golgotha in Greek, and Jesus’s empty tomb, where he is said to have been buried and resurrected. Within the church proper are the last four (or, by some definitions, five) stations of the Via Dolorosa, representing the final episodes of Jesus’s…

“Because I live, you also will live.” (John 14:19 NIV)

In loving memory of my Aunt Zebel. It was during my elementary days when my Aunt Zebel gave me a book entitled My Book of Bible Stories. This thick yellow book has colorful glossy pages and captivating illustrations. I love this book because of its enticing photos that each alone relates a story even without reading the narratives. Another proof that indeed image transcends language. As the title implies, My Book of Bible Stories is a compilation of 116 significant stories taken from the world’s greatest book: The Bible. It contains selected stories arranged in an order as they appeared in the Bible – from the Old Testament to the…

    “Do Better Now My Child”

It’s been a while that I’m listening to Ravi Zacharias’ messages on YouTube. Mr. Zacharias is an Evangelical Christian apologist and evangelist; the founder and chairman of RZIM, which is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia and with several offices across the globe. I could say that I am blessed to have read some of his numerous books and hoping to buy some more of this notable works in the coming days. I would also like to take this opportunity to immensely THANK the staff of RZIM, especially to Danielle, who has been very supportive and kind enough to promptly answer my request. Thank you very much RZIM team. May God continue…

    A Trip to Jerusalem

From Amman, I hired a taxi to take me to Allenby Bridge, also called King Hussein Bridge, in Jordan. This is the closest land border between Amman and Jerusalem, a crossing point from Jordan to Israel and Palestine. This is the main inland route that I knew of to enter Israel. Another entry point is via Eilat, which is ideal for those who are travelling to and from Egypt. Needless to say, the easiest way to travel is by plane through Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, which is the largest international airport in Israel where most internationally known commercial flights operate.   It was a rainy morning when I…

    A Prayer – Michel Quoist

I have fallen, Lord, Once more. I can’t go on, I’ll never succeed. I am ashamed, I don’t dare look at You. And yet I struggled, Lord, for I knew You were right near me,      bending over me, watching. But temptation blew like a hurricane And instead of looking at You I turned my head away, I stepped aside While You stood, silent and sorrowful, Like the spurned fiancé who sees his loved one carried off by his rival. When the wind died down as suddenly as it had arisen, When the lightning ceased after proudly streaking the darkness, All of a sudden I found myself alone, ashamed, disgusted,…
