Kuala Lumpur

Selamat pagi,

Malaysia is the second country I visited after I finally had the courage to travel on my own.

It was the time when the Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur was the tallest building in the world (from 1998 to 2004) as defined by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). As a result, many people were curious to see the iconic towers up close and personal. Fortunately, I was one of them to do so. I took the lift to the higher bridge linking the two towers. It has a public sky bridge and observation deck that gives the thrill of viewing the beautiful vistas surrounding the city.

When I was in Kuala Lumpur, there were instances wherein I was mistaken as a Malaysian citizen by other tourists. In some ways, I wish I was. Some locals would even talk to me which I hope I could understand Malay, their official language.  Though, English is also widely spoken. I am a typical Asian-looking lady, so it was not a surprise to me. I would be more than delighted if I happened to be compared to Carmen Soo, a Malaysian model and actress, whom I admire so much.

One of the things I did was to visit the Butterfly Park. It houses butterfly species that are only indigenous in Malaysia. Being a nature lover myself, I savored the moment while being surrounded by butterflies as if I were transformed into a fairy. I was bonding with them while admiring the exotic plants and wild flowers. It was a feast to the eyes of someone feeling diwata like me.

Visit Malaysia. It is ‘Truly Asia’.
