I Had a Successful Eye Laser Surgery (Lasik)

After more than ten years of wearing eyeglasses and contact lenses, I finally decided to have eye laser surgery. Thanks to Dr. Ahmed El-Sawaf at Laser Eye Care and Research Centre (LERC).

It was during my twenties when my eyesight started to deteriorate. Like many others, I was at first reluctant to wear eye glasses but did not have an option however, I did not like it and I was very uncomfortable even after years of putting them on. Maybe I just did not find a suitable pair for me. I then switched to contact lenses, which to me was a better options to glasses although contacts are a bit pricey especially the Daily ones. I explored and tried wearing different brands especially the not-so-expensive, but more often than not they caused redness to my eyes. There was a particular instance when I was wearing contacts by a certain brand that people meeting me in the morning thought I had sore eyes. However, I then discovered the Bausch+Lomb brand which became my life saver for several years. It’s the only brand I had used year after year. Since then, I pledged to wear only Baush+Lomb and to make sure I would often buy bulk quantities considering my eye power is not always easy to find.

In spite of being dependent on wearing contacts for most of my waking hours I still had a reserved transition and progressive pair of eye glasses that I would normally wear during weekends at home, especially if I had no intention to go out. I would also prefer to wear glasses when on a long flight so that I could doze off conveniently without having to worry about going to the toilet first to remove my contacts – to be sure not to sleep with contact lenses in.

So after years and years of being dependent on either glasses or contacts I finally considered having Lasik Treatment. I consulted with some of my doctor friends who highly recommended considering the latest technology nowadays. But still, the idea that something might be poking my eyes still scared me. After doing my own research online and reading reviews about it, I finally decided to visit some clinics and take the first step. Normally, consultation is for free as it has to be decided whether you are eligible or not and that can only be found out after a thorough check-up by a qualified ophthalmologist. There are many reputable eye clinics and here in Dubai I visited some of them. For many reasons, Laser Eye Care and Research Centre stood out so I decided to have my eye surgery to be carried out at their premises. The procedure took less than ten minutes for both eyes. I am happy I made the right decision. Goodbye glasses; goodbye lenses.

My heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ahmed El-Sawaf, Dr. Anwar Sajwani and all of the nurses and staff especially to Eman; they were very reassuring and competent in the field of eye care, as obviously manifested by the positive reviews by their satisfied patients, just like me. When it comes to price, they offer a very affordable package nowadays – EXCLUSIVE NATIONAL DAY OFFER. So, if you have eyesight problem and are fed up wearing glasses or contact lenses, then I think it’s time for you to consider having Lasik. As a person who has just had laser eye surgery, I would highly recommend that you call LASER EYE CARE AND RESEARCH CENTRE (LERC), and visit them at Dubai Healthcare City, Building 27, Block B, Clinic 402.
