My Book’s First Review
I would like to, once again, say special thanks to Jan Schwetzingen who posted his insightful review about my book entitled INSPIRED TO TRAVEL, TRAVEL TO INSPIRE – A TRAVEL MEMOIR. He is the first person to completely read my book and post his review after it was published on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com websites.
To all those others who have kindly got a copy of my book, I would also love to receive your honest comments about it.
For your information, I share with you below Jan’s appraisal:
“My review on Amazon:
This is not your ordinary travel guide. What you will find in your hands is an essay style report of a deeply religious, widely read Oversea Filipino Worker, who has chosen to discover select places abroad with open mind and genuine interest. Starting from her current home base Dubai, she follows her intuitions in discovering European and Asian cultural heritage.
The author Joan literally takes you with her on a journey to well-known and not so famous highlights of her recent travels. Travelling on low budget and typically with most arrangements on site, she absorbs the specifics of the location and shares her insight into historic, cultural, architectural and religious backgrounds. Thus she adds a unique value for the interested reader, going beyond the obvious and the contents of standard tourist guides.
Being an explicit advocate for tolerance and discovery across religious and racial differences, Joan makes her observations personal, and thus more powerful. Her ambition is to motivate others to follow her path for travel and discovery, but also for developing one’s own understanding for what is out there. Hence she does not strive to implant her views on the reader, but rather provides a genuine melange of basic travel facts, personal experience and good to know background information. This melange varies in composition – and is thus authentic, reflecting the author’s predispositions. Effectively, she at times develops into a versatile and communicative, yet virtual travel buddy.
As much as this is a book about the travels which the author undertook, it is also a book about the author herself. Meet her between the lines, as the world she presents is the world from her own perspective. She does not see and know it all, and she does not even endeavor to reach that stage when introducing you to the riches of countries abroad – but is full prep study for all-round expertise your motivation or is targeted discovery of the unknown your challenge?
Consider the latter option, and then this book may inspire you to follow Joan’s paths.”
I hope you too will get your own copy of my book. It is available both on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble websites. Enjoy reading.
To God be all the glory!
