Salzburg “The Sound of Music” Tour Experience
“The hills are alive with the sound of music . . .” Salzburg is where the movie The Sound of Music was filmed. It may have been released in 1965, almost a decade before I was born but I must admit that I have seen this film several times. It stars the adorable Maria (Julie Andrews), with the Von Trapp family; the father played by Christopher Plummer. When I decided to travel to Austria and naturally Salzburg I made sure to pre-book The Sound of Music tour. I simply had to watch this classic film all over again. Luckily,…

Trees – by Alfred Joyce Kilmer
TREES By: Alfred Joyce Kilmer (Joyce) (For Mrs. Henry Mills Alden) I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree. A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast; A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray; A tree that may in summer wear A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with rain. Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree.

A short visit to Yerevan
Armenia: It is one of the oldest countries and the first state in the world to adopt Christianity as its official religion. My visit to Armenia was hassle-free as it’s one of the countries that didn’t need a pre-approved visa for us Filipinos. It was something that I was pleased about as I did not have to worry compared to previous difficult experiences when applying for visas. My partner and I decided to spend four days in Armenia by taking just over a three-hour flight from Dubai to its capital city – Yerevan. We were both excited as neither of us had been to the country in any of…

A Taste of Medieval England
Before I visited England, whenever asked which part of the country I would like to visit aside from London, I would always say that I wanted to visit somewhere with authentic ambiance, a rustic appeal and with medieval style. I wanted to see for myself actual places that were similar to what I saw in the movies depicting Medieval England. Luckily, my partner granted my request. He took me to the Cotswolds and to Castle Combe which to me were mind-blowing. The beautiful rural landscape, stone-built villages, historical towns and stately homes and gardens were real. It seemed to me that every corner has its own story to tell to…

A visit to the Land “Down Under”
Australia is one of the countries that I longed to someday visit and see for myself. I knew it wouldn’t be easy. I had to decide the best point of entry knowing its massive land area. I thought that there was no better way to start my exploration than at its largest city – Sydney. From Dubai, it took 14 hours flight to reach Sydney. It was an exhausting flight which meant that as soon as I reached the accommodation I had to rest the whole night to recharge myself and make sure that I would be fully fit to start my exploits for the following day. There were so…

Indulge in Turkish Delight
It was a freezing December when I set foot in Turkey. Istanbul is the country’s largest city, the financial, cultural, and historical centre. It is the only city in the world located between two continents: Asia and Europe. Istanbul is a fascinating city that houses various compelling attractions. Luckily, most of the sites are in close proximity to the hotel where I stayed. Many well-known sites such as the Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Sultan Ahmet Mosque, which is popularly known as the Blue Mosque, are amongst the most visited. One of the activities not to be missed when in Istanbul is a boat ride and I…

A short getaway in Tbilisi
Georgia is a country in Eurasia located on the crossroads of Eastern Europe and West Asia. Its neighboring countries are Russia to the north, Turkey and Armenia to the south, and Azerbaijan to the south-east. It is a land with a magnificent history and unparalleled natural beauty. According to Planet Doc, ‘although as small as Switzerland, Georgia is big in all aspects; a progressive nation, European in attitude and Western in spirit; a real Caucasian country with the joy of the Mediterranean’. Georgia is a mix of modern and ancient, with numerous and significant ancient churches and monasteries to visit. It is a Christian country where the majority of the population practices Orthodox Christianity, primarily the Georgian Orthodox Church.…

Travel with me
Travelling has been one of my immense dreams. After visiting to more than thirty countries it has inclined me to write this book in a plain, simple way I wish to share the feeling, smell, sights, and sound that I personally encountered, as well as the weird and wonderful things I experienced during my travels that apparently according to IBN Battuta, a Moroccan Muslim traveller and scholar who said that ‘Travelling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.’ For a period, I hesitated to push through writing my texts, thinking who would believe me in the first place other than myself and perhaps some of my…

The “City of Lights” – Paris
Bonjour! Paris is a vibrant city which is named as one of the world’s most beautiful cities where people come to admire its exceptional architecture. It is also the capital of gastronomy, fashion and shopping. I would assume that it is one of the dreams of every romantic to visit the “City of Lights”. Millions of people visit to the French capital every year and in 2014, I was one of them. Like most of the first time tourists I was able to climb up to the second observatory level of the Eiffel Tower. This global cultural iconic monument was built for the 1889 Universal Exposition in Paris. It has…
