Poem #002-21062020
This is my second attempt at writing a poem. Poem #002-21062020 I am sorry if sometimes I’m short tempered, Dealing with somewhat naive and disconnected. I am not always seeking for perfection, Neither, I am implying for competition. We are living in the Middle East With different working days from the rest, So please keep in mind and bear with us If we don’t answer your inquiries that fast. Do you know our working days? That here, it begins from Sundays? Which evidently ends on Thursdays, Normally, followed by two rest days. I hope you will come and visit us here in Dubai, It is…

I Had a Successful Eye Laser Surgery (Lasik)
After more than ten years of wearing eyeglasses and contact lenses, I finally decided to have eye laser surgery. Thanks to Dr. Ahmed El-Sawaf at Laser Eye Care and Research Centre (LERC). It was during my twenties when my eyesight started to deteriorate. Like many others, I was at first reluctant to wear eye glasses but did not have an option however, I did not like it and I was very uncomfortable even after years of putting them on. Maybe I just did not find a suitable pair for me. I then switched to contact lenses, which to me was a better options to glasses although contacts are a bit…

The Significance of Train Journeys
For a tourist, there’s no better or more exciting way to explore Europe than to travel by train. Out of the many options of mode of transport to choose from, such as car, bus, or plane, undoubtedly, train travel is the most convenient and most reliable. It is a highly commendable mode of transportation for sightseeing unless you prefer to hire a car and drive on your own. Travelling by train gives you the freedom to easily move from one place to another not only in big cities but in remote rural areas as well and provides the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the countryside. Whenever I step…

Plunged Into Earth’s Lowest Point: The Dead Sea
The Lowest Point on Earth (430.5 Metres Below Sea Level) After Mount Nebo and Bethany beyond the Jordan, we headed to our next and final destination for the day: the Dead Sea. It is around fifteen minutes’ drive from the baptism site. The Jordan side of the Dead Sea has higher mountains, providing spectacular panoramic views of the Dead Sea; thus, numerous beach resorts and international hotels lined up. Our tour guide took us for lunch in one of the best restaurants in the area, and then we spent the entire afternoon relaxing and watching the curious tourists take their turn at covering their bodies with mud and then dipping…

A TASTE OF THE BIG APPLE – NEW YORK
“Start spreading the news I am leaving today I want to be a part of it. New York, New York…” This timeless song “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra kept ringing in my head while on the train from my chosen hostel in Central Park area. It was the beginning of my American exploration that started in New York. The very first thing I did was to go to Times Square which is the heart of the city to collect The New York Pass that I purchased days before my flight from Dubai. I decided to collect it at the Big Bus Information Desk at Madame Tussauds and had…

An Insightful Travel Experience – Nepal
Before I started my own travels, I had been reading the articles found on https://www.hillmanwonders.com. I was fascinated by the insights Howard Hillman put into words about his passion for travelling and at the same time creating interesting and helpful tips for other would-be travellers. I wish I could travel as much as he accomplished and could document not only the famous places but also the weird and wonderful sites that I would encounter on my journeys. His website became my benchmark that I would gladly cross out the relevant places as soon as I was back from travelling. Given the ways and means, I would definitely visit all of…

My Own Piece of Hollywood Glamour
It was one of my dreams that if and when given a chance to travel to America, I would definitely visit California. There must be something to this state that the majority of my Kabayans choose to stay in and call it their home. Apparently, as of 2018, there are more than a million Filipinos living in California alone. California is a huge State with so many well-known attractions which made it difficult to decide where to go especially for someone who had limited time and resources to travel. Enticed by the glitz and glamour of Hollywood movies, I chose to visit a city in Southern California that is called…

Little Bangkok Restaurant in Dubai
One of the things that I love about Thailand is definitely its food. As we all know, millions of people visit the country every year. Its strategic location in South East Asia and the availability of international flight connections make it easier to reach wherever you may come from. It is a country that has so many things to offer, be it for business or for leisure. Its capital city, Bangkok is an ideal place to spend a holiday with family and friends even for those with a low budget. The city offers wide options to choose from when it comes to affordable accommodation, convenient transportation, sightseeing options, etc… It…
